Hello friends, family and other dreamers. My name is Lauren; I want to succeed and I’m asking for your help.
As many of you know, I was recently accepted to one of the top film schools in the U.K. I applied to the Masters Screenwriting program at the Met Film School in London and I was one of only six people in the world to be accepted. This incredible accomplishment caught me off guard because the Met was my reach school, as I was sure that my severe Dyslexia would make me appear unqualified. I no longer look at my Dyslexia as disability or a burden, but in the past it has limited my ability to move forward and I was worried that would be the case again. I have started to see my learning style as gift because of how I view and take in the world around me. It takes me to an imaginative state that creates spectacular stories. Getting that call and being told that someone else also viewed this as a gift was a life changing experience, and with some help, it can continue to be.
But leave it to me to be accepted to the only school in London that is not recognized by our U.S Federal Loans systems. I have started the process to have Sallie Mae possibly add the Met Film School to their list of accredited schools but things like that take time and time is something I don’t have. I need to make a down payment and then start paying tuition fees as soon as possible. I tried taking out Personal Loans from different banks but having an average credit score and not owning a house or a car didn’t give me much wiggle room for personal loan approval. So, that is how I ended up here on GoFundMe. I am leaving my future and success in the hands of all of you. I know that money is tight for most people and the idea of giving away free money might seem like a pointless act but there is nothing pointless about it.
You have the power to help another human being in this world, to see someone reach way beyond the stars and take hold of one. I want the future that is standing right in front of me and I refuse to let this opportunity slip through my hands simply because of financial hardship. I don’t want to be forced into a corner where dreams are for the rich and hope is for the poor. I am a dreamer no matter what social class I am in. Help me dream; help me thrive in this life.
Many thanks, much love and keep dreaming.
