William "Woo" Craig was seven years old when he came into my life and many of yours. He was a little boy growing up in Grey's Ferry, Philly who was put into a "Bigs and Littles" program run by Villanova thanks to his loving and ever watchful mom Carmen. As luck would have it, he was paired with a long-haired kid from Kentucky, me.
Will, Carmen and his older brother Kenyatta welcomed me into their family and they have been my family since 1996. In the the four years that I was at Villanova I know that Woo touched my friends and classmates who met him during campus trips and outings. We watched him grow in those four years and I am blessed to have watched him grow into a beautiful husband and father of two boys.
I watched and shared in the heartache of him losing first his brother Kenyatta to cancer in his early thirties and then our beloved Carmen to cancer a few years ago. Carmen was a model mother and is undoubtedly an ever watchful angel now.
I am creating this page because now Will is diagnosed and battling colon cancer. As a result he has taken a leave of absence from his job at Drexel University where he works as a security guard. That position did not afford him short term disability though thankfully he has health insurance.
However, young Woo needs us. I am committing $1,500 of from my personal account to reach this goal and have matched that from my law firm prior to setting this up. Many of us have been greatly blessed both in the situations we were born into and by the fruits of our labor. I hope that you join me in gratitude for where we are by kicking in to help Will, his lovely wife and sweet boys in their difficult hour.
God bless you and thank you in advance.
