On Monday night Cleo suffered a tragic accident. As we were outside in the yard she ran out the back towards 97th Ave. My mom and I panicked when we saw the direction she was headed in and started screaming and chasing her. This only caused her to run faster straight into traffic. Right in front of our eyes we saw as a Dodge Ram was coming full speed and Cleo was headed right into it. We screamed and tried to get his attention but it all happened so quickly there was no time. We saw as the car hit her and she flew back crying in pain. I was horrified to lift her big floppy ears off her face and see the damage. As Cleo cried in pain I picked her up and we drove straight to veterinary specialist hospital a few minutes from my house. Cleo was bleeding out of her nose and mouth and had so much liquid in her lungs she was barely breathing when we arrived. I could hear her shallow breaths against my chest and her tounge flopping out and turning blue. I thought she wouldn't make it. We were rushed in immediately and they began care. She needed a thorococentesis, xrays, labs, oxygen, and a lot of pain medication. The damage, to name a few: pneumothorax, broken rib, lung contusions and heart shifted side ways from all the free air and liquid build up. The good news; she had no internal bleeding, her spleen did not rupture, her bladder was not rupture, she did not need any immediate surgery, and she is young and a fighter. Throughout the last two days she has needed continuos oxygen, she can not oxygenate herself without it, continuous fentanly drip for the pain, laxis for the edema, another thorococentesis and countless other interventions. I can not imagine being without my beloved Cleo. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love her. She is my baby. My heart is broken. We thought after 48 hours they would be able to take her off the oxygen but she is not ready and needs more time. The vet bills are already in the 5000+ and she will need to be in Icu for several more days. The doctors say they see progress but after such a bad accident she needs time to recuperate. Any thing you can help with would mean Cleo can stay in her oxygen cubical alittle longer and let her lungs heal. Thank you to all for reading my story, anything you can do to help will be appreciated, even if it's just prayers. ❤️ ❤️
