Memorial - Air Force Staff Sgt. Marshall Roberts

We are raising money to purchase a bench in honor of Air Force Staff  TSgt. Marshal D. Roberts to be placed at the Veterans Memorial Park in Owasso.
Staff Sgt. Marshal D. Roberts, 28, of Owasso, died March 11 2020  when his unit was engaged by indirect enemy fire at Camp Taji in Iraq.    Roberts was assigned to the 219th Engineering Installation Squadron, Oklahoma Air National Guard.    Roberts enlisted in May 2014.  He was the first Oklahoma Guardsman killed in action and the 20th Oklahoma Guardsman who had died while deployed overseas since Sept. 11, 2001.   
The squadron Roberts was on deploys worldwide to establish communications systems and maintain their functionality. Roberts deployed in late 2019. The operation Roberts served, Operation Inherent Resolve, is the name of the U.S. military’s intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, commonly known as ISIL or ISIS.
Staff Sergeant Marshal Roberts is remembered a hero and patriot, a man who chose to fight for the freedoms that we hold dear, who willingly walked into the path of danger so that Americans at home were safe.   
Roberts was born January 29, 1992, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marshal’s parents, Sally Borrell and Randy Roberts, raised Marshal in the community of Owasso, Oklahoma. Marshal graduated from Owasso High School in 2010.
Marshal is survived by his wife, Kristie Kay Roberts of Claremore, Oklahoma, his daughter Paityn Roberts, his mother and stepfather, Sally and Mike Borrell, his father and stepmother, Randy and Carol Roberts, his sisters Cortney and Karla, his step-siblings Bailey, Jami, Jimmy, Halsie, Samantha, and Mathew, his grandparents Homer and Sunni Wager and Harold Roberts, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. His in-laws include Theresa and Noah Hidalgo, Uncle Ron and Aunt LuAnne, sister’s in-law Kellie, Megan, and Allyssa, and brother in-law Joshua. He was preceded in death by grandparent Faye Roberts, and great-grandparents Mike (Bomps) and Ruth.

Thank you all for your generous donations.   Once we purchase the bench any funds that are left over with go directly to his daughter Paityn Roberts.
