For more than a year I’ve been dealing with extreme back pain from a herniated disc that I substained in my lower back last year. It started when I was laying in bed one morning stretching my legs when all of a sudden I felt a pop in my back followed by immense pain. Over the course of the past year, I’ve been to numberous doctors, underwent epidural procedures, and went through physical therapy, none of which have seemed to help. A couple weeks ago, I was walking and just happened to cough in the middle of taking a step which triggered something causing extreme pain in my lower back, shooting down my right leg to my right foot. After having a new MRI done, I went to see a neurosurgeon and we both agreed that surgery was the best option as I currently cannot sit or drive without feeling extreme pain. My surgery is set for June 10th, and although I have insurance, have a very high deductible and will have to pay over $5,000 before insurance covers anything, I’ve been out of work for 2 weeks now due to this injury and recovery time after the surgery is 4-6 weeks. People who know me personally know I hate asking for financial help, but at this point, I don’t know what else to do.
