Help Damon Recover and Rehabilitate
Donation protected
They say the hardest part to this is asking for help. Taking the “pull the bandage quickly” approach seems best. Damon has to re-tool his studio and many parts of his life in order to earn a living and survive for the next six months to a year. Now that the bandage is free and the last whimper has faded from that event, please read further for the details of why this is so important.

Damon has been an artist, sculptor, designer, tinkerer, and all around mad scientist. For years he has used his alter ego of Professor Junquentoys to bring many creations to the public through comic, anime, sci-fi, and horror conventions, as well as online shops. Before taking on this personae, Damon was a commercial theatrical designer, builder, and manager, creating sets, props and special effects for live theatre, video, film, as well as many Renaissance Festivals and outdoor fairs across the country.

On May 15, 2016, Damon Steele was rushed to Johnson City Medical Center with severe abdominal pains and extreme swelling. A four plus hour surgery, and a few touch and go moments later, his perforated appendix and several inches of necrotized colon were removed. After two weeks in the hospital, Damon returned home to begin recovery from this traumatic event.

This recovery is going to take three to six months, depending on the additional surgery needed to reconnect Damon's ileum to the surgically reclaimed portion of his colon. In the meantime, the surgical wound must be cleaned and dressed twice a day, the ileostomy bag and mucus fistulae cap are removed, areas cleaned, and then replaced every three to five days. The schedule of follow up appointments with surgeons, wound care specialists, pharmacists, therapists and nurses is exhausting enough without the rest of daily life crowding it. And yet, daily life presses on.

The doctors have banned him from lifting anything over ten pounds and the abdominal wounds themselves restrict many movements and range of motion. This ban, of course, comes with the usual fine print of no driving, no operating equipment capable of more than ten pounds of force, no forge work, no welding, and no physical exertions before all of the doctors involved have signed off on rehabilitation. Aye, there’s the rub.

Damon needs to pay bills while revamping his stock in trade. He will further use your donations to replace and augment his tools and studio to move away from large scale wood, stone, and metal carvings to smaller works that can be cast in resin or other material. Your dollars will also help him purchase molding and casting supplies.

As soon as the new lines of sculptures become available, donors will be given first choice of limited edition versions at deep discounts as a small thank you. As the Bard has written, “You great benefactors, sprinkle our society with thankfulness. For your own gifts, make yourselves praised.”
