Help the ladies at this New Orleans Sober Living!
A little before midnight on Friday, May 28th 2021, a fire started at a New Orleans sober living house for women and children. Three of the five women who live at the house, Melissa, Eugenia, and Jessica, along with Melissa’s 10 month old daughter, Remi, were home and sleeping when the fire started. The two remaining roommates, Riki and Brandi were luckily not home at the time. Thankfully, everyone was able to escape the home without injury. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for everyone’s belongings. Jessica’s car sustained severe damage due to being parked near the back of the home where the fire started, and most all other od the women’s possessions were destroyed between the fire, smoke, and water damage. These women have already overcome so much and were starting their lives over together as a sisterhood. To my understanding, there is absolutely no insurance that will cover the damage to the vehicle or any other personal belongings. Some of these women are not able to salvage any of their material possessions.
One of these women is my best friend, so I have had the opportunity to befriend each and every one of these great women. They are strong and positive women, who inspire myself and others in the community to do positive things. This money will go toward helping repair the vehicle(s) damaged from the fire, re-home each woman, and help buy food and clothing for the five women and baby Remi.
Anything would be greatly appreciated. Let’s help these women get back on their feet and back to a normal state where they can continue to inspire and motivate everyone in the community. Below are some pictures of the house and car that the fire damaged and also a Venmo option if you would prefer to donate that way instead. There is a processing fee from GoFundMe. So the Venmo option will definitely provide a little bit more help for these women and children. Thanks for your support !
To avoid processing fees payments from Venmo and cashapp is also accepted.
