Persistence is a refusal to quit.  Perspective is a particular attitude towards a way of regarding something: a point of view, and a true understanding of the relative importance of things; a sense of proportion.  Progress is development towards a goal.  These three words describe the key elements that have contributed and continue to enrich my success.

My favorite quote “Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about”.  My persistence has served me well after six attempts to get into veterinary school I finally did and it brought me halfway around the world to Australia.  I have met some amazing people and have had some wonderful experiences.  Sadly I have had to learn about perspective from my mother who was diagnosed with cancer not once but twice in the past few years and through her I have learned that in life it is all about perspective.  You should live your life the way you please because there is always someone who is fighting a battle that you have no idea about.  Progress you ask where does that fit in?  Well my dream and goal of becoming a veterinarian, has made leaps and bounds of movement.  I may not be there yet but it is all progress and I am constantly working towards my success.  Success is not easily measured and everyone has their own definition of success and for myself my success is doing the best I can, not only for myself but others as well.  Being confident in the choices we make in our life and living with those choices.  Living life with no regrets, because we are granted one life and it is our own to live.

Well as of December 7th, 2016 I will be graduating from the University of Melbourne Faculty of Veterinary Science with my DVM!  After a long road with a few minor bumbs I have finally made it.  I am now faced with making the trip back to my home country of America and it doesnt come cheaply.  I would never have made it through without my friends, family, mentors and most importantly my furbabies!  I originally shipped my two dogs from America to Australia and now will be returning with one of my original dogs "Baby", a foster fail dog "Zeus", and my other two foster fail cats "Sir Edmund" and "Houdini" who I resuced and bottle fed along with 5 other kittens that eventually found forever homes.  Throughout vet school I have had to work to pay for most of my living expenses as my student loans were not sufficient.  At one point I held three weekend jobs at one time.  I was very fortunate but now that I am in my final year I have not been able to work as much since my uni requirements have required me to work most weekends so a regular job has not been possible.  I have worked incredibly hard to make my life long dream of becoming a veterinarian come true and it is almost here. Once I get back to the States I will need financial support to purchase a vehicle to get me to work as I have secured a job already which I am quite proud of.  My hardwork and determination has brought me this far but I figured to give this a go and see if anyone was willing to help me out.  Thank you to anyone who reads my story and considers my request.  My goal amount will cover the cost of my flight and the flight for all four of my furry family back to Texas.  Once again thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,
