Help Robert and his Family

Robert Swierzbinski is a loving husband and father of 5 children between the ages of 10 and 21. He is an extremely talented and hardworking contractor who works alongside his brother and business partner Andrew Swierzbinski. He is well loved by many for his sense of humor, devotion to family, creativity, reliability, and incredible work ethic.
In June of 2016, at age 44, Robert underwent emergency heart surgery. He had not known of his heart condition before the day he was checked into the hospital. The surgery was hours longer than expected and complex. Robert woke up and spoke with his family in the 2 days following his operation. Then while in the ICU he went into cardiac arrest. Repeated attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, but his family asked the doctors to continue to try, despite the risks of so much electricity to his brain. After 45 minutes he revived, but his brain was damaged. His heart has recovered, but he has not been communicative or responsive since then. He continues to be hospitalized and cared for around the clock. It is not known at this time how much brain function he will be able to recover.
We met Robert through a Polish friend when he and Andrew did a small job for us. In the 15+ years since then Robert has been involved in every building project we have ever done, and has become a trusted friend. All our friends and family know about him because we are always telling them how amazing he and his brother are. Robert does not just do a job and go home. He leaves what I like to call Easter eggs - little nice surprises. Once while working on our house he saw what a mess our garage was and built an entire wall of shelving AND put all our stuff up on the shelves (all before we got home from work). Another time when we had ruled out a built-in bench on a project he surprised us on the last day by building a beautiful small rolling bench with bits of leftover materials. He always finds clever solutions to construction issues and delights in the “reveal” which makes us feel like we are the lucky people on a reality show. He is irreplaceable to us.
Please consider donating to his wife Wioletta for Robert’s care and the support of his 5 children. And whether or not you donate, please consider sharing Robert’s story with your family and friends.
Thank you so much,
Sharon and Mark
