I'm a college administrator, musician, spouse, pet lover, lay preacher, social justice educator, and friend. I have written songs for more than 30 years and have hymns published in several hymnals. Previously I have self-produced two albums of my music, the second one a set of liberal religious songs. I've recently been diagnosed with liver cancer and while it's too soon to know what the trajectory is I want to make sure my third album gets recorded while I can still do it. I have ten new songs, a recording studio and engineer, and am getting musicians together. The money I want to raise is to pay the musicians for their time. We'll be recording from mid-July to mid-August of this year, so the fundraising timeline is somewhat short.
It's impossible to say how much it will mean to me if I can make the album better by hiring musicians to enrich it. This album will be one of my legacies (no matter how well the treatment works) and I will be incredibly grateful to anyone who helps me make it a reality. So to any of you who donate something, thank you very, very much.
Also, if you contribute more than $10 and would like a free album, please indicate this in a comment with your donation and we'll make sure you get one.
UPDATE: In order to cover the mixing, mastering, and CD production I've tripled the total amount of the campaign. I had not been thinking about that part of the process when I set up the campaign. Thanks for understanding.
