Pennys for Pene my homeless Mother

Donation protected
Moms homeless. She's been living outside in the South Alabama heat, in a dog cage, in a van, and under a tarp, with a pack of dogs for about 70 days.

She has always worked very hard.  She was in civil engineering as a draftsman until the mid 80's when everything shifted to CAD.  She was a single mother when it all changed so she could not really go back to school at the time. She tried a few times but it just didnt work out. Most of the jobs she had after that were at convenience stores.  She never made much money doing that but she loves to interact with the people.

She ended up living with a friend from work.  They shared the bills for about 10 years until she passed away in 2008 and that is when my mother had a breakdown and ended up in the Mental Health program.

They diagnosed and treated her for ADHD.  After a few months she was moved into an apartment with assistance from the Mental Health Program. Things went pretty good for several years until they privatized the public mental health care and changed her diagnoses from ADHD to Bi Polar and started giving her psyc drugs. It was all downhill from there.

The first medicine she was given gave her severe Pakinsons symptoms. After a lot of complaints they finally switched her medication and after a few months all of her teeth started falling out. She convinced them to change her meds one more time. This was the worst of times. Her skin broke out with blisters and she was in excrutiating pain. I read  the information about the medication and it was noted to stop taking it imediately if you have this side effect and that it could lead to death. We decided to take her off of it imediately.

Unfortunately she was evicted from her housing program because she wouldn't take medication that was killing her. Now she is living in a van and this cage to take care of her dogs which understandably she has refused to part with. I have tried to get her to move in with us but we rent our house and cannot have dogs. They are her life and her children. The only thing that keeps her happy in a strange and difficult situation. She is having complaints about the dogs where she is now so she is probably going to be even more homeless than she is now in a few days.

The plan is to raise money for a down payment on a small piece of propery and try to purchase an RV or small building for her to live in.

I own a stage production business in Fairhope, AL. I Stay busy with work but as a young business owner it has not been extremely profitable yet. I rent a warehouse at this time and my idea is to relocate my storage to the same property so that I can divert the funds from my rental space to help cover the mortgage.

I do a lot of pro bono work for charity events when I can. I would love to get past this hurdle so that my mother can be safe and happy again and so that I can continue to grow my business and give back to the community the only way that I know how.

I plan to host a benefit concert to help raise money for her and I would like to also match dollar for dollar of what we raise by providing production services for fund raising events of your choice.  For every dollar we raise through this campaign I promise to provide an equal value of probono work on charity events whenever and wherever I can.  Please make suggestions for any event that you think might like to retain our service and I will gladly contact the organizers and offer my services.

Thank you for your time. God bless and keep you well.
