Hi -
My husband and I have been blessed with two adorable very special kiddos. We have spent many years not having a diagnosis but we are almost there with a named disease. They will be the first two of a very rare syndrome, literally 2 in 6 billion. Pretty rare right! They cannot walk or talk, but we get rewarded in smiles! :D
We are raising this money because although we have special needs insurance that has paid for wheelchairs (strollers are not covered) for our kids, we realized today that we need strollers that are easy to fold & transport, easily handled by just one of us (It takes two to take the wheelchairs in and out of the van), and that we also need a backup for when their chairs aren't available. One of the chairs was at the vendor for repairs this week and we had to use our traditional stroller from when our daughter was very little...well, it didn't really work. The main symptom the kids have is hypotonia; most commonly referred to as "floppy" . They are very limp and do not sit well, so they need lots of support now that they are bigger.
We have found some adaptive strollers online starting at $600 each. With support accessories, we estimate the cost to be about $1600.00 for both. The website does offer free shipping, so that's a bonus!
We have had family, friends, and even strangers ask what they can do for us after hearing our long story (coming soon to a FB page #thepinderkids). This is one of those times we would like to ask for help. As these kids grow we learn of new things they are in need of to prevent further complications and every day brings us challenges. But we hope to give them the best life we can, and we will!
We know times are hard, for everyone, so we are very thankful and appreciative of any help you can provide!
