Miliena was born  on 11/27/2015 as a healthy, beautiful little girl. She was able to to move and do everything that babies are supposed to do, but 15 days later she started loosing her muscle movement and was diagnosed with SMA type 1. SMA is spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disease affecting part of the nervous system that controls voluntary muscle movement. In hopes of helping Miliena, her parents came to USA for a research study at OHSU in Portland, OR.
