Request for Help for My Parents

On September 26, 2024, many residents of Florida were ordered to evacuate for their safety due to Hurricane Helene. My parents, fortunate enough to have a vehicle, were able to leave their home with only limited belongings. Around 9:00 PM, we began watching camera footage, hoping the storm wouldn’t impact them. As we monitored the situation, we saw water levels rising dangerously close to their house. By 10:00 PM, visibility was lost as the water overtook their property.

On September 27, 2024, at approximately 7:00 AM, we drove back to assess the damage. The destruction we witnessed was unlike anything we had ever seen. With each passing moment, our hopes of finding the house intact faded. Upon arrival, we immediately realized we needed help. Behind their home, what was once a walking trail had transformed into a lake.

Entering the house, we were met with a gut-wrenching sight: every piece of furniture had been overturned, electronics were ruined, and cherished childhood memories were lost. The despair in my parents’ eyes was heartbreaking, as everything they had worked for seemed to be gone.

I am reaching out to our community for support to help restore a glimmer of hope for my parents as they begin to rebuild their lives. While childhood memories can’t be replaced, new ones can be created. This house has been a cherished space for their infant grandchild, and any assistance would mean the world to us.
