My God will do it again!

Hello my name is Linda Irvine.  My friend , Kimberly Cornelius, is battling cancer for the third time in 15 years.  I am so amazed at her strength and ability to face yet another physical battle head on.  I remember the first time I met Kim, she walked into our church ( had been going through chemo ).. she had a beautiful scarf wrapped on her bald head and a tentative smile on her face. It was obvious that she was in a battle for her life and I could see she needed God and she needed to be loved as she went through the toughest battle she had ever faced…she knew she could not do it alone.

In 2001, Kimberly had her first fight with cancer, This first battle was breast cancer and after a double mastectomy and having formed new friendships at our church- she knew God was in control and had the power to heal.  In 2004, Kim passed out at the wheel while driving and the doctors found an irregular heart beat that required them to place a pace maker in Kim’s heart.   In 2007, Kim was diagnosed with lung cancer – the doctors removed half of her right lung. This was devastating to Kim as she had begun singing in the church choir and she loved giving God praise for all he had done for her.  She was not sure if she would be physically able to sing again.

After half of her lung was removed, Kimberly sang a special at church- “My God can do it again!!” ( see the video attached ) Despite fighting cancer twice and having heart surgery all in a 7 year period- Kimberly was very aware of how God can turn even the worst situations into good. Kimberly was surrounded by family and friends that loved her ( still love her ).  She saw firsthand what true Christianity looks like as people reached out to her- took her food, visited her in the hospital, prayed for her,  putting their love for her in action at every opportunity.

Kim stopped coming to church a few years ago and put distance between many of her friends,  including me.  One day this past April 2016-  The Lord spoke to my heart and said "Go find Kimberly and tell her that you love her. Remind her that I love her and have not forgotten about her. " I thought, “ Hmmm..ok God “ and went about my day. The next day, I felt the Lord speak the same thing to my heart.  There was a baseball playoff game at Willis High School that night- I knew Kim would be there because her son, Christian, plays for the Varsity baseball team. I went to the game and it was packed!! ( FYI- Willis won! )  I finally spotted Kimberly- she was seated behind home plate. I hugged her and she was glad to see me. I told her I came just to see her and that God wanted me to remind her that I loved her and so did He.  After the game, Kim hugged me and began to weep. She said, “ Linda, I found out this morning that I have cancer again.  I haven’t even told Christian or Bryan. Please don’t tell anyone yet. I feel like God is punishing me because of bad decisions I have made “  I , of course, reminded Kim that God is not in the business of trying to bring death to us…that’s what the devil does. I reminded her that God loves her and had not forgotten her!!

Kim has always been so strong but having cancer strike her again for the third time ( ovarian cancer this time ) has weighed very heavy on her. I can see her struggle is greater than anything she has ever faced before but she also knows that our GOD IS BIGGER THAN CANCER and by His stripes we are healed!!

Kimberly is a single mom and unable to work due to chemo. She is scheduled to have surgery in September of 2016. She has been hospitalized three times in the past 4 weeks with complications. Her mother and step mom are taking turns staying with her and taking her to doctors appointments.

Kim has always been one of the hardest workers I have ever met.  I remember her once saying that staying at home was not an option for her. She had always worked- many times more than one job. In the 15 years I have known Kimberly- she has never asked for anything from anyone. This past week, she asked me for help.

Kimberly need’s $10,000 to pay her medical bills and her living expenses.
Her needs are immediate and they include:
cost of surgery after insurance $ 5,000
( needed Sept. 1, 2016 )
heath insurance monthly bill $400
apartment rent $800
( just needs rent for July and August 2016 )
car note $300 monthly.
( If someone could donate a car to Kim- she would gladly let her current car and car note go )

As I mentioned Kimberly cannot work due to chemo and being so sick.  I know that Kimberly will have many friends that will want to help her.  Your gift to Kim could be as little as $5.00 but every penny will help her during this time. Please help me reach a goal of $10,000 by putting God’s love into action… Let’s show Kimberly that “GOD CAN DO IT AGAIN” !!

Ronald Reagan once said  “ We can’t help everyone but everyone can help someone “

I want to thank you in advance for helping Kimberly in her time of need. She needs our prayers and  our financial support.  Let’s put the love of Jesus into action today!!
