In July, Marcel was enjoying some time with some of his friends on the river.  He dove in for a swim, thinking the water was deep enough.  Unfortunately it was not and he hit the bottom, head first and broke his neck ( 4th, 5th & 6th vertebrates).  He under-went 8 hours of surgery and the 5th vertebrate was not repairable, so they had to put a plate in.  He is paralyzed from the chest down.  :(   He is only 35 yrs old and has a 4 year old son (Jordan).   He is able to partially use his hands only and is in intense therapy.  Marcel does not have any insurance and was in between jobs.  This is so heart breaking.  His life has been a rough one but 3 years ago he turned it around and has been clean of alcohol/drug use.  He has Jesus in his life and his faith is strong.  It's a shame this had to happen when he was doing so many good things so he could finally be with his son and do for him.  His faith, family and friends are what's helping him to get through this traumatic event in his young life.  The prognosis isn't good.  More than likely he is facing a lifetime of being paralyzed.  We have been so proud of how he has turned his life around and so happy that Jesus is his rock.  His parents are wanting to get a  specialized van to help get him back and forth to his many doctor vsits and therapy.  If anyone could help, we would be soooo very thankful.  Many blessings to all that help in any way.  Even if it's a small amount or maybe a re-occurring monthly donation, would be truely appreciated.  Every little bit helps!  We will keep you updated on his progress.
