Hi everyone, I’m starting this fundraiser for my best friend because her family has recently trapped her in an abusive lease-agreement, which she is now legally obligated to pay for until January of 2022. The only way she can remove herself from this environment is with your support, which is why she’s asking for your help.
Abbie is the most compassionate and loving person that I have ever met. She wears her heart on her sleeve, she genuinely cares about everyone in her life and has always offered to help and support anyone in her life who has ever needed it. Over the past year, Abbie has been putting her heart and soul into building her own independent tie-dye business. She is an amazing single mom to a brilliant three year old boy and she has always done everything in her power to provide the best future that she can for her kid.
Abbie has overcome so many obstacles in her life over the last couple of years so this is my attempt to make sure that she knows she’s going to survive this blatant abuse caused by her father’s family since the day that she was born.
Abbie’s father is currently her landlord and he has neglected the property that Abbie is currently residing in since the day she signed the lease-agreement in January of 2021. This house in a state of disrepair and I have listed the most pressing issues below:
1] There are missing banisters and broken handrails making the staircase leading up to the second floor hazardous to her three year old.
2] The washing machine was never installed properly which causes it to leak and there has been stagnant water soaking into the hardwood flooring which smells horrific and has never been addressed.
3] The front porch has been missing floorboards and some of them are partially broken with exposed, sharp edges which is also a cause of concern for the health and safety of her child.
4] The air conditioning unit has never functioned properly as promised. The temperature on the first floor of the house is always fluctuating depending on whether it even works most days, and there has been no air circulating on the second floor of this house since the day she moved in.
5] The light fixtures throughout the entire house aren’t connected in multiple rooms, which her father (and landlord) had promised to fix immediately after she moved in.
6] Abbie has been trying to remove mold that has been growing around the bathtub for months and her landlord has never once assumed responsibility for this or offered to replace it so she could avoid any adverse affects it could have on her child while he’s bathing.
Honestly, these issues barely scratch the surface of what Abbie has been forced to experience as a result of how much her father has neglected his own responsibilities which he is legally responsible for as a landlord. Regardless of who the tenants are on any of his rental properties, nobody should ever have to suffocate in an environment like this due to the neglect of their landlord.
All funds that are raised will be going directly to Abbie. She is seeking support so that she can quickly remove herself from this toxic environment by immediately breaking the lease that her abusive father has recently bound her to legally. Until today, (May 25th, 2021), Abbie was under the impression that she was allowed to move out of this rental property as long as she informed her father in advance. Due to the legal actions taken by her father today, what was relayed in private is now null and void, which is why she needs all the help she can get to find a safer place to live, not only for herself, but also for the well-being of her child.
