The purpose of this campaign is to mobilize a strategy within our American Lebanese communities to bring a positive change to Lebanon’s security, and to save its people from economic hardship and political stagnation.
The Lebanese people have been suffering on many levels due to the deteriorating economic crisis and due to the collapsing of thecorrupt government. In fact, the US Administration has declared that the “Lebanese government is dysfunctional, and it is one step from becoming a failed state.”
As a matter of fact, the US Congress passed a bipartisan resolution, H.R. 1077, which supports the U.S. goals for combatting government corruption, executing needed structural reforms, and the important role of the Lebanese Armed Forces.”
Similarly, members of US Congress sent a letter on May 18, 2021 to Secretary of State Anthony Blinkin, expressing their deep concern for the country, and urging The Biden administration to take a quick and “significant action” to address the “suffering of the Lebanese people and to prevent Lebanon from further economic collapse, as this would “pose further risks to the security and stability of the broader Middle East as well as U.S. national security.”
Furthermore, the letter demands an international investigation of the tragic, massive exposition of the Beirut port on August 4th, 2020, which has caused damages beyond measures to an already struggling nation. The third largest explosion in history killed over 214 people, injured over 6000, and destroyed nearly300,000 homes. The investigation into the matter is stalled, and no one has been held responsible for it. As a result, it has become impossible for the Lebanese people at home and abroad to maintain their neutrality.
Therefore, we, Americans of Lebanese descent, expatriates, and Lebanese activists at home have decided to become more proactive in our pursuit of justice and stability in Lebanon.Therefore, we are organizing a conference in Washington, DC to address the horrendous deterioration of the security, economic, and financial situations in the country. We fear, if not addressed in a timely manner, this situation will have an existential threat to Lebanon as a free, independent, and sovereign state.
Accordingly, the following matters will be addressed at the conference, some through roundtable discussions by experts and activists. Hence, our agenda includes:
1- Regional conflicts and Abraham Accord’s effects on Lebanon.
2- Neutrality.
3- Government and Corruption.
4- The Lebanese constitution and Reform.
5- United Nations Resolutions (1559, 1680, 1701, &Hezbollah’s transgressions.)
6- Human Rights, and Women economic and political Empowerment.
7- Peace and Security (Smuggling of medicines, fuel, and other products.)
8- Economic and Financial Crisis.
9- Syrian Refugees Crisis/Lebanese prisoners of war in Syria.
10- Stolen funds and the blocking of depositors’ money.
11- The Port of Beirut Explosion-A crime against humanity!
It has become an absolute necessity that the governing system in Lebanon is in desperate need for serious REFORM, and that the country’s numerous political, economic, and financial problems require drastic measures to resolve.
The basic demands of the conference will include but will not belimited to the following:
1- Demand an International Convention for Lebanon.
2- Demand Neutrality for Lebanon.
3- Implementation of the Lebanese constitution.
4- Reformation of the System (i.e., Judicial reform/separation of branches of government, separation between religion and state.)
5- Enforcing UNSCRs 1559, 1680, & 1701, (Deploying LAF, disarming all armed militias, and land and sea border demarcation.)
6- Hold corrupt officials & bankers accountable for mismanagement of public funds.
7- Human Rights (Women’s rights & involvement in decision making.)
8- Present Economic & Financial Recovery Plans.
9- Use international laws, i.e., Magnitsky Act, to prosecutekleptocrats, and to recover the stolen funds.
10- Demand UN resolutions to a) resolve the Syrian refugees’ crisis, b) return POWs held in Syrian prisons illegally.
11- Demand international investigation for the Port of Beirut Explosion.
12- Demand a Marshal plan to rebuild the infrastructure of Lebanon.
The expected outcomes of this conference are a) to provide a permanently active voice in Washington, DC, and in other capitals around the world for Lebanese activists through the creation of a united lobby of many currently active lobby groupsand individuals, b) to present recovery plans and solutions for economic prosperity and financial stability, c) to provide a roadmap to political stability and to national security.
Event Location: The conference will take place in Washington, DC, (LOCATION WILL BE PROVIDED IN PRIVATE MEASSAGE) where many influential personas and groups will gather to discuss the above-mentioned issues for a three-day conference. Simultaneously, a group of Lebanese activists and opposition groups will gather for the same reasons at the Royal Hotel, Dbayeh, Lebanon. The two groups, along with other personalities from around the world, will communicate via live video streaming (Zoom.)

Furthermore, while some may be working for political gains, or serving special interests, we are working for the national interestof our country and for our people!
