YWAM Derby – 100K to repair the Overdale House

At YWAM Derby, we are blessed to be part of a dedicated community that seeks to serve the city and the people of the city with our talents, gifts and resources. Our heart is to see the marks of God’s Kingdom in the life of the community around us so it can flourish. Our ministry is deeply rooted in “to know God and make Him known” and we do that by pioneering and supporting charities and churches around us.

As you may know, our organization operates entirely through the generosity of individuals like you. Our missionaries commit their lives to serving others, believing in God’s provision through donations to sustain their work and livelihood. It is this spirit of giving and community support that encourages us to continue our mission.

Today, we are reaching out to you with a special request. Our building, which serves as the heart of our operations and home to our missionaries, is in urgent need of repairs and upgrades. From essential structural fixes to necessary safety improvements, these repairs are critical for us to continue our mission effectively and safely.

We have set an ambitious goal to raise £ 100,000 to cover these expenses. This amount will ensure that our building is not only safe and functional but also a welcoming space for our community.

THE BOILER

After several years of temporary fixes and historic insufficient services, the boiler has come to the end of its life. We have looked at replacement with heat pumps and newer green technologies but found modern efficient boiler replacement to be the most suitable option. Cost between £16,500.00 and £20,000.00

EXTERNAL GARDEN WALL

Recent storms have caused damage to the retaining walls around the perimeter of the property which were no claimable on the insurance. We have done well in satisfying the council that work for the wall, which has fallen out onto the public pavement and lamp post in the street will be undertaken as soon as possible. This is the most essential work that needs to be completed with Initial work to create a secure point that ties into the main structure of the wall being the first stage followed by additional work to secure the entire length of the wall. Cost. £16,500.00

LARGE PINES TREES IN THE PROPERTY

These large trees and their long-term neglect of care have contributed to the situation with the wall and will continue to have an adverse effect on the perimeter wall if not addressed immediately. Works needed include high priority 1 tree works with traffic management, medium priority 2 tree works, and low priority tree works.

Cost. £7,800.00, but one of them already fell, so it might be a bit less than that.
