Edgar Qiu is a beloved son, twin brother, and friend who has always brought laughter and good spirit to the people around him. He just turned 21 years old a few months ago and is currently going into his 4th year as a university student at UCSD.
He is fighting a disease called pineal choriocarcinoma, a rare, malignant brain tumor. Right now, he is in coma caused by his tumor hemorrhaging and bleeding into the brainstem.
Around June 11th, he was complaining of minor headaches but was still as cheerful and outgoing as ever. On July 7th he fell into a deep coma. None of us would have guessed that when we left for summer break, it would be the last time we ever get see his smile and and be in his cheerful presence for awhile. We didn't even know he was sick with cancer until we heard the devastating news and by then it was too late for us to do anything to support him. We can't imagine the hardship that his family is facing right now and it breaks our heart.
This campaign is dedicated to helping the family with the overwhelming financial burden of ICU and possible chemotherapy and radiation therapy. As his friends, we wanted to take the initiative to start up this campaign to not only help the family, but so that we can hear his laughter again.
