About Matthew's Hope
Our mission: Broken, flawed people helping, loving and caring for broken, flawed people.

Matthew’s Hope is the primary provider of critical needs for the homeless community in West Orange County, Florida. The faith-based charity connects the area’s homeless to additional specialized wrap-around resources that enable them to improve their individual situations and stabilize their lives.

There are over 1,000 homeless persons in West Orange County lacking basic sustenance and services with no other providers available within walking or biking distance to assist them with basic needs and resources needed to better their circumstances. One-third have been homeless for three months or less and 55% are women and children. The non-profit fosters the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of these individuals by meeting basic needs, developing skills and restoring dignity and independence.

The homeless are able to go to one facility that provides all the necessary support and training they need to move forward in life. Services include transitional housing; a food pantry; access to medical and dental services; rehabilitation; counseling; a pre-school; personal services including showers, haircuts and clothing; and other tools necessary in becoming independent and self sufficient. Matthew’s Hope programs are funded by grassroots community support.

Program guests earn points working at Matthew’s Hope community services – an organic garden, car detailing service, and furniture refurbishment – that they can use to redeem for life’s necessities including food and transportation.

Over the past two years, the charity has opened 15 transitional homes providing over 20,000 nights of shelter. In 2014, the group opened its Firm Foundation Montessori-based preschool, offering a solid educational opportunity to homeless children while providing childcare for parents to pursue employment and educational opportunities.

From November 2014-November 2015, Matthew’s Hope supplied its homeless guests with:
10,454 nights of shelter
5,508 meals served
1,275 loads of laundry washed
27 students enrolled in our preschool
494 attendees at life recovery classes
138 patients on the medical bus
891 showers
548 haircuts
85 pairs of glasses
1,614 shirts given
13,044 toiletries given
50,000 volunteer hours
