Jen & Timmy's Journey To Recovery

On the afternoon of July 9th, a terrible accident forever changed the lives of this beautiful family. They were riding motorcycles with some friends on Hwy 78 near Richland, Iowa when the accident occured. The last thing Timmy remembers seeing was a sign that said Pekin School. For some unknown reason, his arms stiffened and his head jerked to the side causing him to lose control. Jennifer became airborne and landed in a cornfield and Timmy rolled with the motorcycle. They were both transported to and remain hospitalized at the University Of Iowa Hospital.
It is believed that Timmy may have experienced a seizure while riding causing him to lose control of the bike. He fractured his hand/wrist so badly they are still uncertain what can be done. He was taken to surgery today to see if they could help increase circulation to his hand in hope of helping to save the tissue. Tomorrow they will take him back to surgery to see what they can do to start reparing the fractures. He has multiple contusions and is very sore. He is being monitored and tested for a seizure disorder or an unknown underlying medical condition. We hope they will find an answer to what triggered this to happen.
Jennifer is suffering from a broken neck and a serious spinal cord injury. She has no sensation or feeling from her upper chest down to her toes. Last night she endured a 5 hours surgery to repair her spinal column. They fused her spine from C2 to T2. The surgery went well and doctors were pleased with the outcome. She will remain on a ventilator for the next couple of days. Due to the location and severity of the injury they have informed the family that Jen will never walk again. Those of you who truly know Jen, know she has the will and fierce determination in attempting to prove them wrong. Pray for this miracle.
Their family and friends have not left their sides and need your continued prayers.
Many people throughout the community have asked how they can help and for those who wish to help this family financially, I have set up this Go Fund me account. The funds raised will go directly to Jennifer and Timmy to help them with continued recovery and care. They will both be unableto return to work for an undetrmined amount of time and have a long road ahead of them.
