Hartwick Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected
After the recent passing of our dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, Don Hartwick, we decided to honor him and his family legacy by promoting 3 things that he loved: The University of Michigan, Architecture, and learning. We would like to create an endowment that will perpetually help U of M Architecture students with their education.

Don is a 3rd generation U of M Wolverine with an Architecture Degree. His grandfather Ernest started the family legacy back in 1911, his father Bruce continued the tradition and dad graduated in 1967. Both dad and grandpa Bruce were members of the Sigma Nu fraternity. As a family, we spent many Saturday's growing up watching football games in The Big House or gathered around the TV. Chances are, if you ever had any contact with "Papa Don", he was always wearing a U of M sweatshirt or baseball cap.

Don gave everyone he touched the love of learning. He spent hours teaching us the state capitals, helping with geometry proofs, trying to explain physics or astronomy, looking up information in the Almanac, and identifying all of the constellations and satellites from the beautiful night sky at Stuart Lake. His look of excitement on his face when we taught him something new was unforgettable. Most recently, family and friends tried to help teach him Facebook:o)

Thank you for considering this special fund. Please check back as we will continue to update with pictures and progress of the scholarship.
