On April 8, 2021, Jessica Elmore gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Logan Michael. She and her husband Tyler were elated to be a family of three and headed home ready for sleepless nights, numerous diapers, and nursing non-stop.
But Jessica knew that Logan wasn’t like other newborns. He was exhibiting some abnormal symptoms. They could just never have expected the hurricane brewing in Logan’s tiny body...jaundice, reflux, feeding lethargy all pointed to something bigger. But she was also trying to heal from delivery and a postpartum hemorrhage.
Jessica bumped up Logan’s 1 month checkup to get some answers. An unexpected heart murmur turned into a cardiology visit for an echo and EKG that also proved to be abnormal.
If Logan’s story stopped here, he would’ve been given medication and had a fatal heart attack. But mama’s observations plus their findings helped the doctors determine that Logan needed to be admitted to Rady’s Children’s Hospital immediately.
The doctors soon discovered, to the shock of his parents, that Logan had a rare heart defect, left coronary artery stenosis. On Monday, May 17, 2021, Logan underwent open heart surgery and is now on the long, hard road to recovery.
His mama is a nurse and his daddy (my cousin) is a firefighter. These two amazing people who’s jobs are rescuing people in crisis are now facing their own and it’s our turn to help!
The Elmores were supposed to move cross country next month but will have to temporarily delay their move, but their lease is almost up and they will need temporary housing. While Jessica and Tyler are taking care of their sweet boy, let’s help them with moving costs, lodging, food, and bills. We can’t heal Logan or take away the sleepless nights, but we can relieve them of a financial burden! No gift is too small!
Please keep the Elmores in your prayers. God has done great things in Logan’s heart and life already. I’m excited to see what is yet to come for him!
