Dear Friends and Family,
On June 23, 2016, Doris Johnson was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. It is affecting her right lung and has spread into her lymph nodes. With this diagnosis her Doctor has recommended chemotherapy and radiation starting Monday, July 11, 2016. Her treatments will be once a week for 3 weeks and the 4th week off. This will continue for the next 2 months. Doris’ progress will be monitored and evaluated, at that time, for any change in the cancer. The Doctor has ordered Doris to stop working immediately and to make this fight against cancer her new “full time” job.
The first visit to the Oncology Office was scary for Doris. She didn’t know what to expect. A nurse by the name of Lynn came into the consult room to ease her fears. Lynn reassured Doris she was not alone in her journey. After a brief tour of the facilities and meeting some of the other patients, she felt more at ease to begin treatment.
Doris is a self-employed hair stylist with over 50 years of experience. She has spent her career helping others when they were in need. Today her concerns are not of how she’s feeling but how she is not able to be there for her clients. Her love for her family and friends along with the passion for her career will continue to be a driving force in this unforeseen hurdle in the fight against cancer.
Doris will no longer have the steady income she has always relied on. She will need assistance with her medical, in home care and household expenses through this journey.
Loved ones are rallying to support this amazing woman’s recovery. Any financial contribution you could make would be greatly appreciated and we ask you to share this link with your family and friends. We’ll keep you posted on Doris’ progress!
Much love,
Denise and Pat
