A Farewell for a Little Angel
Donation protected
Friends, my name is Bob Hein and I am a pilot for Southwest Airlines. I learned this afternoon that a fellow employee, pilot and friend, Granville "G2" Lasseter, lost his 5 year old granddaughter in a tragic accident yesterday. Her Mother, who witnessed the accident, made a valiant effort to resuscitate her daughter but to no avail.
For those of you who know G2, you know him as the boisterous former Texas A&M Yell Leader, Marine and airline Captain, who can light up and room with a smile and darken your day with a bear paw grip! Tonight, the room is dim as the smile has faded and the once mighty grip now trembles with grief remembering the love of a little angel.
To be honest, I have never met the "Little Angel" nor do I know G2's son and daughter in law. I don't even know her sweet little name but, as a father, I feel a small portion of the heart break that must be overwhelming this family. Of course, the picture is not of her but this website would not let me proceed without a photo so I improvised. As the days go on, I will update this information to provide you a name and a picture of this baby. At present, the family does not even know that I'm establishing this fund but I can't sit back and watch a good family suffer.
Why $5000? Actually, I spoke to three funeral directors and I received estimates ranging from $10,000-60,000. Shocking as these prices are, I went for half of the lowest number because I happen to know the Funeral Director and knew he was being sincere when he quoted me the price. I was hoping to raise half of the lowest expenses, but I was truly hoping to raise the entire $10,000. Allow me to clarify, none of the funeral homes that I spoke with will be contracted to perform the services. I used them as nothing more then a point of reference to start this fund. Secondly, I, personally, will receive no monetary reimbursement from these donations.
Why am I raising these funds? Simply because no parent should bear the burden of burying a child and no Mother should watch her baby breathe her last breath. I thank you for your consideration in reading this entire request and, if you're so inclined, your donation.
