Derrick Langlois' Medical Fund

You may or may not know me. My name is Alicia (Parrott) Langlois, just an average person with an average life and extraordinary friends and family. Saturday, July 2, 2016 changed our family's world forever.  My boy, his wife and children need your help.  PLEASE!

My oldest, Derrick Langlois, his wife an some really good friends were at the Oregon Dunes.  Derrick was a passenger, unable to drive because of a broken wrist.  His driver took him to a top of a dune while motorcyclists sat at the top watching and his wife followed behind in another vehicle.  Derrick said it was so steep and all they could see was sky. When the front wheels came down they were peering over the edge of a razorback.  The vehicle fell 30+ feet landing nose 1st and tumbled 4 times before landing on all 4 tires.  The driver was unhurt beneath the crushed roll cage.  Derrick, 6" taller, was not.

Friends were at his side immediately pulling him from the wreck.  Taylor (Steele) Langlois, his wife kneeled with his head between her knees to stabilize his head and neck.  She was so calm and in charge.  She was the one who called 911! I'm so thankful.  D's injuries required ambulance, lifeflight and hospitalization.

Wittnesses and police concluded that there was no reckless behavior or excessive speed and yet the day ended horribly. Derrick has 3 fractures of his cervical spine (neck) and has 2 compression fractures in his thoracic spine (upper back) . They've also discovered a basilar skull fracture.

Derrick has survived 4 deployments as a sailor in the US Navy, including being shot.  His wife has worked, maintained a home and raised their 2 beautiful daughters alone while he served our country.  Tay continues to work full time.  And so did D, up until 7/2.

This young family has gone through some major adjustments since D left the Navy.  They were just seeing the light at the end of the tunnel financially and then this.  Unknown to anyone, the driver had no inurance and D & Tay's auto insurance has only limited uninsured driver coverage.  They are already looking at thousands and thousands of medical bills, not to mention the expenses of life: rent, groceries, child care, utilities.  Even the necessities of life seem daunting right now.

So why GoFundMe? My baby and his babies need help.  Nothing about this is going to be easy.   There will have to be a new normal.  All of that takes time...and money.  Please help me help my child, daughter (in law) and grand babies.  They (I) can't do it without your help.

Think about your baby...your brother...your husband...your father.  How greatful would you be if someone stepped forward to help you be it friend, family or stranger.  I've been thinking and I can't exactly find the words to express the unbound gratitude I feel.  I'm even thankful that you took the time to read all of this.  With all my heart, thank you. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Together we can be extraordinary!
