On the 07.07.2016, five individuals from the Gambian community living in Birmingham lost their lives through a tragic accident at work at the Hawkeswood Metal Recycling Centre in Birmingham.

The Gambian Islamic Centre in Smethwick, home community of the deceased, have set up a task force to look after the wellbeing of the families and are thus appealing for financial support for the immediate needs of the victims' families.
