Hey everybody, on Monday May 3rd around 4am, a water pipe burst in my kitchen. Water ran through the night while I was sleeping, filling the upper floor of the house, and consequently drained into my basement studio (South Light Sound). I wish I could say the damage was not extensive, however water poured through the ceiling soaking most of my studio equipment. Microphones, outboard gear, and console were all effected. At this point, although I’m being hopeful, it is unknown what will need to be replaced and/or repaired. I must wait until structural repairs are completed on the house before I can rebuild the phone and test everything; sadly; most of the cables, snakes, DB25 connections, and power supplies were completely submerged in 3-4 inches of standing water. Currently I've had to move or cancel all the sessions at my place, and I'm trying to cover what I can working from a studio close by which my neighbor is subletting out to me; anything and everything helps - even if you just share this page -
UPDATE:
hi, please watch the update videos as people have asked “yeah but don’t you have insurance?” i explained some of this in the video...and yes, i have a policy that will cover some things, however (there’s a lot of detail here) the basic problem is with electronics - is you don’t know what is bad, sometimes even when tested, when it comes to water damage and oxidation... therefore i’m expecting to put it all back together and then have gear go bad. also, i’m at the mercy of when insurance puts the house back together to “rebuild” the studio, until then i’m renting another space, and today it’s already been a month since the flood. and nothing has moved forward with reconstruction yet. i have given work i couldn’t complete to others in the community as i have also lost clients during all of this. i hope that clears up any confusion and i can’t thank everyone enough for all of the support❤️
