Ramona Andrews Wheelchair Ramp

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family of Wade and Ramona Andrews,

Some of you may know that our mom, Ramona Andrews has undergone several back surgeries over the years to relieve her chronic back pain.  In her first surgery, (2012) she had a metal rod inserted in her lower back.  This helped in relieving her pain for a period of time, but in November 2015, a second surgery was needed to correct her middle back.  She was healing from this surgery, but suffered a severe setback when she suddenly lost feeling to her lower extremities and the ability to walk.  Since the middle of January, Ramona has been unable to walk. The doctors identified the cause of the paralysis and performed an emergency third surgery on her upper back in March 2016. Her progress looked good as she began to stand and shuffle on her own. In the past 2 weeks Ramona's paralysis has returned and per her doctor he says, “it does not look like she will walk again”.  She is only mobile now in her wheelchair.  We were hopeful that she would regain her ability to walk, but unfortunately as of now, she cannot stand or walk at all and is under the care of a skilled nursing facility.

Unfortunately, her Medicare coverage at the skilled nursing facility will run out by mid May 2016 and she will need to come home.  Wade and Ramona have lived in their condominium complex for approximately 20 years and do not want to move.  But there is no wheelchair ramp anywhere in the complex. Because of this, she is unable to return home. There is no access to her home that doesn't involve stairs from the parking area.  The homeowners association will not pay for a ramp to be installed, but will allow Wade and Ramona to personally pay for one to be installed.  The Fountains Home Owners Assoc. Board says that they are not legally bound to install one because it is private property.  Wade and Ramona are also incurring the cost to retro fit their condo so that Ramona can live at home where she has close friends and has established strong relationships in the community.  This cost will be tens of thousands of dollars. We know that our mom and dad would never ask to have someone give to them.  If you know Wade and Ramona you know that they have been the most giving and self-sacrificing people.  They have faithfully given to family and friends because of their love for Christ.  That is why it is hard for us to ask for help, but we feel it necessary now.

We are setting up this “Go Fund Me” campaign for Ramona to help offset the cost of installing a wheelchair ramp at their condominium complex.   If you can help, we know that Wade and Ramona would truly appreciate it.

God bless you and thank you for whatever you can give.
