Dallas police officer Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, one of the five police officers killed in Thursday evening's ambush in Dallas on law enforcement.
Ahrens was a Burleson resident. He was described by one Burleson police officer who knew him as a "gentle giant," a reference to his 6-foot-5 stature.
Also killed in the attack were Michael Krol, 40, Michael Smith, 55, and Patrick Zamarippa, 32. Brent Thompson, 43, became DART's first officer killed in the line of duty since formation in 1989.
One of our own lost his life last night in Dallas. Come on B-town people...lets get together and do something for this family. He has left a wife and 2 small children. He lives across the street from my sister, let's raise some money for them. I am just a Burleson resident wanting to help one of our own. The money will be given directly to the family.
