Our plans aren't always GOD's plan for our life. We have a multitude of wishes which aren't always granted to us but still we must trust! David has several titles that are well respected by many. A Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Pastor, Friend, and Mentor. For months now David has not been feeling well and was having a lot of trouble eating and keeping food down. Having lost nearly 40 pounds the doctors have been trying to piece together what was causing the issues. On July 22nd David had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy and the wait for the results began. On the 24th he went to the Emergency Room to get fluids, due to dehydration. The doctors decided to keep him at the hospital for observation and to run additional tests. On the 26th David underwent emergency surgery to explore why air was filling up his abdomen and chest cavity. During surgery a perforation was found in his colon which was inoperable due to complications. An ileostomy was put in to divert bile. In the meantime, the test results have shown Adenocarcinoma, a form of cancer, that's affecting his colon and stomach. The surgery must heal, which could take up to 5 weeks, before a proper assessment can be made which includes the stage of cancer and the best treatment options.
Backing up a bit to David's Real Estate working days. He was motivated and definitely a go getter! However, with the market shift David had no choice but to switch companies or be forced out due to the bankruptcy of that company. He was hired onto a new team which did provide more security financially but didn't offer healthcare. David applied with a private insurance company but was denied due to pre-existing condition, prostate cancer, of which he had been cured. Once the Affordable Healthcare Act came into existence both David and Jennifer inquired with multiple insurance companies about healthcare. Due to pre-existing conditions they could not afford to pay the premium of $1,000 or more a month to gain coverage. Therefore, they have had to deny themselves healthcare coverage. In recent months the church David Pastors told him to look into health insurance again. Their hope was to potentially help with the premium but this illness came before that plan could be implemented. Which is why we are here.
