Three weeks ago I was cleaning out stuff in our basement with the help of one of my neighbors. I was bringing the last item up to the pile-a small area rug.
Halfway up the steps to the street my right leg gave out and I found myself on the ground, unable to move. My landlady, Emily called an ambulance and I went to Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley where it was determined I had a broken femur in my right leg.
The orthopedic surgeon did an excellent job. It turns out due to my bone marrow cancer condition, my right femur had weakened into the point where it just fractured.
So here I am back at home, on long road to recovery with the help of county health services and my neighbors pitching in with the basics of my daily care.
What is sinking in though is that for the next 3-4 months I won’t be capable of doing the dog walking which has sustained me along with my low Social Security income since 2015.
So basically I will be missing $3000 a month for the next 3-4 months until I can safely return to being a dog walker.
So once again I turn to you-my loyal friends, asking for your financial support to help me meet my challenging and unexpected situation.
So thank you for anything you can donate I really appreciate it. It’s often said that every challenge makes you stronger... in my case this will be a very strengthening year!
Much Love,
Sharon and Mala (my new Chiweenie)
