This is a party to celebrate an amazing man. He worked for 22 years in the Army, and 18 years as a JROTC teacher. He had planned on working 7 more years as a teacher, but unfortunately, he has had some medical issues to deal with and now he is taking a disability/retirement. For an Army guy, this has been a tough obstacle to overcome.
He absolute loves his job, his country, his family, and his JROTC family. Recently, because of some factors at work, he has felt like his 18 years at RHS, has made little impact, or has started to unravel. We all know that isn't true, but it's how he feels. He gave his blood, sweat, and tears to that program. In fact, he is still so vested in it, he talks about it constantly.
This party isn't just a retirement party, it's a party to show him how many lives he has influenced. (Think, Mr. Holland's Opus - a great movie) Let's show him how loved he is and that these last 18 years HAVE made a difference. This is a surprise party. I know that's going to be hard to pull off in our little town of Ripon, but we can do it. To all his kids, you know you've always, secretly, wanted to pull a fast one on SFC Perry, so now's your chance. We need people from all 18 years to attend. Spread the word!
