On Wednesday June 29th 2016 Mari was driven by ambulance to Canberra Hospital with pregnancy complications. On Thursday June 30th she was flown via plane to RPA hospital in Sydney where she spent the night. On Friday night at midnight Mari was then driven to Randwick Royal Women's Hospital. The morning of Sunday July 3rd Mari delivered Lexi at 5:37am, Lexi weighed 788 grams. Two minutes after that Aria was delivered at 5:39am weighing 975 grams. Lexi & Aria were delivered 14 weeks prematurely
Lexi & Aria had a condition called twin-twin transfusion syndrome. Identical twins who share a placenta (monochorionic) have blood connections inside the placenta. Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) happens when there are too many blood connections in one direction, causing an unequal flow of blood between the twins which meant Lexi didn't receive the same nutritional supplements as Aria.

On Tuesday morning the specialists did some scans on Lexi's brain and the scans revealed that Lexi had an irreversible loss of all functions of the brain (she was unfortunately brain dead). Sadly her body was filling up with fluid because her kidneys failed to function meaning she had nowhere for her fluid to go. Mari and David then made the toughest decision that a parent should ever have to make, to let their little girl go.
Lexi sadly passed away on Tuesday night at 8:18pm. She will be missed by her older siblings Kiara and Rhys.
