Musical Theatre in Rural Colorado
Tax deductible
Creating live theatre is always a matter of faith, but set that production in a sparsely populated and economically humble rural community and putting on a musical theatre production begins to seem more like a miracle…
Will a community of a mere 3,000 yield the talented and dedicated actors needed to fill the available roles? Yes!
Will a venue be available that can meet the stage and house needs of the play? Yes! (We make it work in our town's historic movie theater, the Paradise Theatre)
Will the rights to the play be obtained for the desired dates? Yes!
Will a talented group of volunteers be found who can help build sets, sew costumes, and create props? Yes! (but we still need help, so contact us if you can support in that way)
Will funds be procured to purchase licensing of rights and script fees, performance venue rental, set, costume and prop production, and remuneration of a few skilled staff all in time to offer our rural community a high quality performance of Little Shop of Horrors during the weekends of June 27-29 and July 3-6?
The answer to that last question is in your hands.
We plan to sell out all six performances at our 119 seat venue space, but ticket sales alone cannot raise enough money to fund our production. Paonia Players is counting on generous donors and sponsors like you to help us make up the difference.
Our rural Western Colorado community is rich in scenic and outdoor possibilities, but opportunities to participate in and/or attend live theatre events are rare.
Paonia Players, a 501c3 non-profit, is the only organization in the North Fork Valley that is creating theatre opportunities for adults and children alike. Our upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors will bring together high school seniors ready to head off to college, adult cast members who are fulfilling their creative dreams, and a group of younger actors who will have the opportunity to engage in a high quality multigenerational endeavor that may well influence the rest of their lives.
Please donate now to help make this miracle of an unforgettable musical theatre production succeed! Remember, every donation helps move us toward our goal of $7500. Thank you!
