This is an opportunity to help our pal and campmate Brian produce a record in July at Mooka's studio Prairie Sun. He has lined up a number of musicians we know and so enjoy seeing at PO. Here is the schedule of events in Brian's own words::
So… I have arranged for 3 days of recording at Prairie Sun Studios during the encamp***t. It will be the last Mon-Wed of the G***e during the day. On Monday, July 25th I have Shelly Berg, Tom Scott, Terry Miller and Andy Fraga Jr., scheduled with possibly Gregg Field. On Tuesday the 26th it will be vocals and some duets, and on Wednesday the 27th I have Laurence Hobgood, Terry Miller and Andy Fraga Jr.
Mooka has quoted me a great price on a ‘lock-out’ of the studio. I am negotiating the engineer as I type. Dan Levitin is my producer in the studio and keeping us on track and focused. I have 6 musicians to pay some sort of fee, and will have added costs with lunches, hard drives, etc.
Then there is mixing, mastering and producing product. Here’s the breakdown:
Recording Costs - Studio: $3,000 ($1,800-Studio, $900-Engineer, $200-Hard drive)
Musicians: $2,400 ($400 x 6 musicians)
Food & Pop: $300 (over 3 days)
Mixing Costs: $2,500
Mastering: $500
Production: $2,000
Total CD costs: $10,700
Our former J**** Comm Chairman, Bruce Smith is in for $2,000 already. Anything we can raise will help IMMENSELY! I figured I would just put the whole shibang in and work with what we get.
