Today a father and a brother gave the ultimate gift of life. On January 11th, Lucas Spaw was injured at work and suffered a traumatic brain and spinal cord injury. With the immediate help of bystander CPR and EMS along with exemplary care at St. David's Hospital in south Austin, Texas, the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance was able to procure his heart and kidneys to pass on to one of the many people in need of these life saving gifts.

While the organ donation has given the family a bit of solace in their time of grief, the true tragedy lies with his 15 year old son who will be navigating the loss of his beloved father and best friend.

Any funds collected will be used towards helping his son acclimate to his new normal as well as to achieve "their mutual goals of college and, ironically, medical school."
