David Crown Funeral Fund

Stephen David Crown of the Dalles, Oregon, a 1982 graduate of Wahtonka High School passed away on July 5th, 2016. He was found by his brother Marc with his headphones still on resting comfortably in bed, but more should be said -

For the last 10 years of his life, David lived to serve his mother Norma Jean Byrd. The first 4 of those years he commuted regularly from Portland to The Dalles. About 6 years ago her condition worsened significantly and David relocated permanently to assist her. David's selfless decision lterally saved her from death at least twice. His actions and schedule were centered around her needs which included many medical visits as well as a two year period when Norma Jean had to receive all of her nutrition through a feeding tube. Many of the hard realities about Norma Jean's decline were never mentioned by David.

David confided in me that his greatest fear was waking to find his mother had passed away. His daily morning routine included looking in her bedroom door to see that she was still breathing.
Late July 3rd, after a normal evening of TV and banter, Norma Jean said, "Good night David. I love you" and went to bed.

On the morning of the July 4th, 2016, David's worst fear was realized. His beloved mother had passed away in the night.

What very few people knew was that David was struggling with many health issues himself. He had been in severe pain for the last several years as his mobility became more and more difficult. He had heart troubles among other serious medical issues. He rarely spoke of his own health troubes. The strain of losig his mother was more than David could bear.
I believe he literally died of a broken heart.

Marc expected to come to The Dalles so he and David could make arrangements surrounding their mother's passing. Instead, Marc arrived to find he had not only lost his mother, but his brother David as well.

This fund is not something Marc asked for.

It is something many of David's friends have asked about. "Is there some way I can help?"
The answer is yes.
The expenses for Marc have doubled along with his loss and sorrow. Due to Marc's location and his desire to provide an opportunity for friends of David and Norma Jean to gather, he has extended his stay.

All funds raised will go directly to Cremation and Funeral expenses. If the goal is reached, Marc will also be able to pay some of his travel expenses.

Page created by Fred Stevens, lifetime friend of David. Any contributions will go directly to Marc Crown to cover expenses and are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
