Many do not know what I have been doing for the past 5 months.   I did not want to say anything until we found out it was a sure thing.  I found out a year ago that my Aunt Maria was diagnosed with kidney failure.  When my mother told me, my first reaction was “She can have mine.”  Little did I know that is exactly what will be happening August 2, 2016. 

After my mother testing to be a match, and soon finding out she was not healthy enough to have the surgery, I was then tested.  Each test we have done has come back to me being a match for my Aunt to receive my kidney.  A little history about my Aunt Maria, she isn’t even related to me.  She has been my mother’s best friend for about 27 years, and is more family than my own blood. 

We have been cleared to have surgery on August 2, 2016 in Livingston, New Jersey at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.  I will have to stay in New Jersey area for at least a week to go back for a follow up, where after I am able to come back home to Florida.  My mother will be coming up to take care of my Aunt and myself during this time and I have some amazing friends who are in New York and back here at home waiting to bring me soup and other goodies.  

My Aunt’s insurance will be paying for all expenses that deal with the actual surgery.   Unfortunately they will not be paying for travel or out of work expenses. I am asking for help to get through this difficult time.  I cannot express how appreciative I am for all of my friends and the support and care I am getting from them.

Out of work for 2-3 weeks $1400
Extra expenses while away $380

For each person that donates at least $100, my mother will give 2 meals (breakfast or lunch) at her cafe, East Ocean Cafe, in Boyton Beach, FL.
