Her story:
As a Type 1 diabetic of 25 years with High blood pressure, Angela first started having complications in 2009 when she suddenly had a retina detachment in her right eye Which eventually caused her to lose her vision in her right eye. At that point there were no signs of problems with her Kidneys. Her levels were great and she was pretty healthy except for high blood pressure and Type 1 diabetes.
In 2011 She was pregnant with her son and about 5 months into the pregnancy she started swelling really bad she started showing signs of kidney problems. As the pregnancy went on it got worse, at 36 weeks she got preaclamcia very badly with an emergency C-section, she delivered a healthy 4lb 6oz baby boy. After a week in the hospital she recovered without having to do dialysis and her kidney function seemed good. Her doctors told her she needed to watch and get tested every 3 months, but chances she might have complications down the road maybe 5 to 6 years.
A year and a half later she went into full renal failure. Angela then started dialysis and was told she was going to need a kidney thus starting the transplant process. In February of 2013 while getting testing done at the Mayo Clinic for her transplant Angela suddenly lost her husband to a massive Heart attack. He had been there helping her through everything financially and emotionally and was always by her side. So now after losing her husband, she is trying to take care of herself by going to Dialysis, finding a kidney donor, raising money for a transplant and raising a 5 year old all on her own.
