My name is Amber and I am raising funds so that my son Aamir and I can pay for a place to stay while Aamir is enrolled in the Severe Behavior Day Treatment Program at the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta Georgia. Our goal is to reach $5,000 by the end of July.
Aamir was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2 and in a small city like Savannah; it is difficult to find the resources for him to get the treatment that he needs. Over the years we have dedicated lots of time and what little resources we could get so that Aamir can have a fufilled life, but after a while he began to regress and self-injuy himself (bitting his wrists). So in 2014 we contacted the Marcus Autism Center to inquire about any programs that they might have statewide; Aamir was offered a waiting list slot for the Severe Behavior Day Treatment Program that lasts 12 weeks at their center in Atlanta, Georgia. He was offered a slot in June of this year and we would need to be in Atlanta for the full 12 weeks of his treatment begining in July.
Once we got to Atlanta we found out that the housing grant that we applied for over three weeks ago did not get approved and we can not afford the upfront fees that the hospital's hospitality house wants.
The love that I have for my beautiful boy is endless and goes far and beyond the normal day to day feelins that all mothers have. He is my first-born son and there is no limits to what I am willing to do so that my son gets the help he needs and deserves. It means facing my own fears, sacraficing my own needs, leaving my home, my husband, and my family behind, and taking a leave of absence from my job so that Aamir can get treatment that he needs is he can have the best life possible.
The funds that are raised will go to funds so we can move into the hospitality house and we would be able to complete the treatment at Marcus. It would be as if Aamir is getting the chancethat he so desperatley needs so that Aamir can enjoy his teenage years with fun, friends, and learning.
Thank you all for your help and time.
