Michelle's Cancer

Michelle was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer on June 30, 2016 at the age of 35 (only 3 days removed from her birthday). Her cancer had started in her left breast and had spread into her spine/right shoulder/right hip. She had to undergo a complete hysterectomy and ovary removal as part of her treatment plan. She underwent 4 rounds of strong chemo, 5 rounds of radiation and continues to have chemo maintenance infusions every 3 weeks and a shot every 6 weeks. 

Stage IV Breast Cancer has no cure. Patient's live with the knowledge that their cancer can start growing again at any many. They long for the times the live with "no evidence of disease" and dont have to have extra treatment. 

Michelle was "no evidence of disease" from April 2017-July 2017. In July she had a routine PETScan.  Unfortunately, her results showed that her cancer was once again growing. It was showing up in her left breast again and all over her bones. There is also something showing up in her brain at this time, however, we don't have a diagnosis of what that is yet.

She has had to add an additional chemo pill daily and had to go through 5 more rounds of radiation to her left shoulder and right hip. She is in constant pain at this time and is constantly nauseated. 

We are going to MUSC for further diagnosis of the area in her brain and will hopefully no more about that on Sept 13. 

Michelle is a devoted mother of 3, and the main provider for her family as her husband suffers from Young Onset Parkinson's.
