Love for Baby Lennon

Donation protected
Our good friend, Chandra , after much reluctance, has given us permission to share her story.   It starts in April of 2015 when Chandra and her husband, Dave, found out they were being blessed with their third child.  They were definitely surprised but quickly became excited.  In August, they had an ultrasound done that showed a hole in their baby's heart and Down's Syndrome.  Because of these complications, Chandra was required to undergo weekly ultrasounds and multiple prenatal tests that unfortunately were not covered by insurance.   On December 4th, Lennon Marie Rozak was born 3 weeks early fairly healthy and spent a short time in ICU.  Chandra required emergency surgery after delivery due to postpartum hemorrhaging, and mom and baby Lennon were discharged home on December 7th.  In January, Chandra required another emergent surgery due to her hemorrhaging.  In the meantime, Chandra and Dave were juggling taking care of their other two children while getting Lennon to multiple cardiology, pediatric, ENT, and therapy appointments.  On April 5th Lennon underwent open-heart surgery at Children's Mercy Hospital and spent only 6 days there (the Dr's told Chandra and Dave that Lennon could have to stay 10-14 days, but Lennon is a fighter).

After they returned home, multiple follow-up appointments were required including an ECHO, EKG, x-rays, and multiple medications.  In May after an ENT consult, it was recommended that Lennon have bilateral ear tubes placed with a successful surgery on June 21st.  Because of Lennon's Down's Syndrome diagnosis, she has had physical therapy and occupational therapy pretty much since birth.  Her physical and occupational therapists recommended a cranial remolding helmet due to her flat head caused by delayed motor skills and heart surgery making her positioned on her back most of the day.  In June, Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics was consulted for this helmet and that consult showed a moderate cranial deformity.  The helmet was recommended quickly as an opportunity for cranial remolding is limited as her soft spot closes.  On June 29th, Hanger informed the family that a helmet will not be covered by insurance due to Chandra's employer excluding DME (durable medical equipment) from their high deductible plan.  In the meantime, the bills have piled up with Chandra and Dave both working 2 jobs all while trying to maintain a normal life for their 2 older children.  They both are in professions that serve the community as Chandra is an Occupational Therapist and Dave works in Special Education.  As it is difficult for many of us to ask for help, they too have found themselves in a position where they realize they need help as they only want the best for their daughter.  If you are able, any donation would be appreciated and no donation is too small.  Any amount would help this wonderful family.
