My husband, Gerry Murphy, grew up with Andy Caldwell, he can't remember ever "meeting" him, has just always known him for the last 45 years. I met Andy 19 years ago and he has become the brother I never had, like siblings, we fight like cats and dogs, but we love fiercely. Andy was blessed 5 years ago when he met Amanda. Love happens and he was blessed again by becoming a Daddy to Liam. Soon she said YES and they were married, low and behold Amanda was pregnant again and a little girl was on her way.
On November 11, 2015 Andy Caldwell, Amanda Horneman and Liam Horneman became the proud parents and big brother to Teagan Barbara Horneman. Despite the doctors efforts, she arrived early, very early. Entering the world at 26 weeks and weighing 1 lb 3 oz, 19 cm long, earning the moniker, Tiny Teagan.
Tiny Teagan, has proven to be a fighter and has had a lot of ups and downs for her tender age of 7 months. She remains in hospital and continues to surprise us each and every day. However, in the last four weeks, Teagan has had some set backs. A stint has been inserted to drain cerebral spinal fluid, drug induced paralysis, has been placed on oscillator ventilation to help pump oxygen in her blood and to help her breathe. She is scheduled to have a hole in heart repaired next week, may be postponed, were waiting to hear.
I'm embarrassed that 7 months have gone by and we didn't start this sooner. Andy would've been the first one to start a fundraiser or taken a collection. They never complain, when I talk to Amanda and ask how's she doing, it always "great, hanging in there." She's working full time, they have Liam, 3 years old, Andy has switched jobs. Needless to say, they have a lot on there plate, quite a lot for these two Newlyweds.
$14,000 is a lot of money and a lot to ask. Andy and Amanda are not aware of us asking for them. Sure they'll find out, they are worthy of kindness and will appreciate any amount given. They never complain about bills, I've just come out and asked what is their out of pocket expense. That's the magic number $7,000 copay per year 2015 & 2016. As they do not complain or vent, it is not to say, more bills are coming in that are not covered. They have had the most amazing experience with United Children's Hospital of St Paul, Minnesota. I'm sure paying these bills outright or putting towards future medical bills will ease their burden.
Please keep Teagan, Andy, Amanda and Liam in your thoughts and prayers. Teagan is Tiny, but she is Mighty.
