A few months ago, Diana received the heartbreaking news that she has stage III HER2-positive breast cancer.
Diana is a 33-year-old international student from Colombia. Many might assume her private student insurance would cover all her treatment, but unfortunately, it does not cover most of her medications, leaving her and her husband facing overwhelming medical costs.
Diana’s Treatment Plan
Stage 1- Chemotherapy:
Started it in November and finished by in January. The medications in this stage included: cycvlophosphamide and doxorubicin (Covered by insurance)
Stage 2 - Immunotherapy / Targeted Therapy:
Currently Diana is receiving four medications as part of her treatment
- Trastuzumab: $200 every 3 weeks (not covered, $150 out of pocket)
- Pertuzumab (Perjeta): ~$6,000 per dose (only 4 covered by insurance, $5720 out of pocket per dosis)
- Paclitaxel (part of chemo, covered by hospital)
- Carboplatin (part of chemo, covered by hospital)
Her stage 2 treatment plan includes:
18 cycles of Trastuzumab every three weeks until next year
6 cycles of Pertuzumab scheduled and approved
Your support will help cover:
- Pertuzumab and other immunotherapy medications
- Chemotherapy-related costs not covered by insurance
- Hospital and specialist fees
- Ongoing medical monitoring
- Surgery as there is an out of pocket expense yet to be determined
Why We Need Your Help
Diana will be unable to work during her treatment, and her husband will need to take significant time off to care for her. Your donations help ensure she can continue her treatment with hope, dignity, and strength, without the added stress of financial burden.
Even sharing this page helps — it can reach people who might be able to support her. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Diana fight this battle.
