My grandson Brock has cochlear implants. He was born prematurely at 26 weeks. He stayed in the hospital for over 3 months. He got diagnosed when he was almost 2 years old that he was deaf. After so many years he needs to upgrade his implants because you grow and got need bigger implants for proper hearing. He is now 9 and it is time for his cochlear upgrade. However, the insurance only is paying $4,000 of the $22,000 medical bill. My son is a police officer and busts his tail and works extra hours to make ends meet.
