My thyroid cancer came back and I need to have another surgery to remove the growth.
Two years ago I had surgery to remove what I believed at the time to be a benign goiter. I was informed by my surgeon when I woke up after surgery that they found cancer. They removed my whole thyroid, a portion of my parathyroid and all the lymph nodes in my chest. 11 of the 14 lymph nodes as well as the thyroid and parathyroid contained cancer.
In the 2 years since my first surgery I have had a radioactive iodine treatment, where I had to be quarantined for 5 days. This and surgery are the best ways to eradicate the cancer. Chemo doesnt really help with thyroid cancer.
I have had blood work and multiple body scans including ct scans, ultrasounds and mri's to monitor the progress of cancer growth. A recent scan showed a small growth in a lymph node located on a vein on the right side of my neck as well as a small growth on the left side of my neck. I will be having a neck dissection to remove the growth on the right side. The growth on the left side isn't showing signs of cancer yet and is in a location that isn't typical for thyroid cancer to spread to. Depending on how my body responds to this surgery and future blood work I may not have to have the growth on the left side removed.
I'm raising money to cover the surgery and corresponding medical cost. I know times are rough right now but your gifts and donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking thr time to read this.
