I had the privilege of meeting Lily three years ago when she was four. Working with her as a student speech pathologist, I was struck by her gentle nature and the happiness radiating from her little body which made her irrestible to be around. Over three years I spent many mornings laughing, singing songs and watching Lily grow into a beautiful, young girl. Since then, she has remained my special little friend who is very close to my heart. She is one of the major reasons why I chose to work in the field of disability within my profession and can always bring a smile to my face whenever I need one.

Lily has the most devoted family who goes above and beyond to continually care for her needs. Her parents work tirelessly to make sure both Lily and her sister Isla are always smiling, learning and growing. 

Unfortunately, in late June Lily was diagnosed with Leukaemia and has been staying in PMH to receive treatment. This has been immensely devastating and exhausting for her family, not to mention very frightening for Lily.

To support Lily and her family, I have decided to run the City to Surf Half Marathon on the 28th August for this special angel. I am asking all my close family and friends to donate and sponsor me for this event to essentially show some love for Lily. She has touched my life in so many wonderful ways that I feel it is the least I could do for what she is going through.
