Don's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Earlier this month, Don was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer- Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, located in his chest. He and Carolynn have been living in a whirlwind of trying to navigate appointments, tests, surgeries, and information. This cancer is highly unusual in the location of Don's tumour, and it involves many critical structures in his chest.
Because of the location, size, and type of cancer, there are very few surgeons and teams with the experience to successfully treat it. Fortunately, his case has been taken on by the thoracic surgery team at University Health Network in Toronto.
The downside to this is that Don and Carolynn will need to travel to Toronto regularly, and depending on the timing of surgery and subsequent treatments, they may need to stay there for long periods. This will come with a significant cost, including food, airfare, and accommodation, as well as care for their pets while they are gone.
Anybody who knows Don knows that he is tremendously kind and never hesitates to help in a time of need. He is an incredibly hard worker, and spent his life and career dedicated to Banff's art community, which is also the town in which he was born and raised. He is not one to ask for help, but with his permission, we are humbly requesting some assistance to support him during this difficult time.
It won't be easy, but every little bit helps; whether a donation or words of encouragement.
Funds will be directly sent to Don and used for medical and medical travel expenses. Thank you!
